Raiwind : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Monday said the nation would hear “good news” regarding repeal of 17th amendment soon.
Addressing a joint press conference after a meeting with PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here, he said that Constitutional Reforms Committee had held over 50 meetings and done most of the work.
He said that institutions would be strengthened by implementing Charter of Democracy (CoD).
He said he would ask the committee to expedite the work and finish it soon, adding the implementation of CoD signed by Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and Mian Nawaz Sharif would provide a direction to the nation to work for the betterment of the country and well-being of the masses.
He said that it was their duty to provide relief to the people and a strategy would be evolved in this regard.
There was consensus between the two leaders during the meeting that judiciary’s decisions would be respected.
Gilani said that all political parties must act upon their respective manifestos as this would infact be a service and a relief to the people.
