The young leaders launched the membership drive from 15 places in the state to attract youth to the party.

Hoping to revive the party’s fortunes in Bihar, general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit the state in the last week of January to give a boost to the membership drive.

Central Minister Sachin Pilot said after launching the drive in Patna that the Congress will revive its former position in the state.

“This is a beginning for strengthening the Congress and to regain lost ground,” he said.

Central Minister Jatin Prasad, Congress MP Priya Dutt, Navin Jindal and Shruti Choudhary also launched the drive in different districts of the state.

Rahul Gandhi, who has been criss-crossing the country to strengthen the youth wings of the party – the Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) – has decided to focus on Bihar where the assembly polls are due this year.

The Congress has announced that it would go it alone in the assembly polls.
