India, Bangladesh sign five agreements

New Delhi : India and Bangladesh signed Monday five agreements including three anti terror and security related pacts.

The agreements were signed after the talks between Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina whi is here on a three day state visit to India.

The Bangladeshi premier is to be conferred with the Indira Gandhi prize for peace, development and disarmament on Tuesday.

The three agreements are on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, extradition of sentenced criminals and combating international terrorism as well as India-Bangladesh cooperation to fight against organised crime and illegal drug trafficking.

A MoU was also inked on the sidelines of signing a cultural exchange program for
bilateral cooperation in power generation including inter grid connectivity.

Stressing that security was the first priority of the region, the two leaders decided to actively cooperate in this connection.

They also decided to resolve India-Bagladesh outstanding issues within a comprehensive framework of cooperation.

The two also decided to jointly celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabinder Nath Tagore.

India will give a line of credit of one billion Dollar to Bangladesh. This is the highest ever credit line given by India to any country in one time.
