Shimla : A sunny day brought some relief to the people of Shimla from the cold even as the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh continued to reel under sub-zero temperatures, the Met office here said Tuesday.
Shimla experienced a low of 6.3 degrees Celsius Tuesday, a rise of 0.1 degree from Monday’s, said Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office.
He said Shimla’s minimum temperature was four degrees above average for this time of the year.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded minimum temperatures of minus 11.7 degrees Celsius and minus 4.8 degrees Celsius respectively, as against lows of minus 12.1 degrees Celsius and minus 5 degrees Celsius Monday.
Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a minimum of 0.5 degrees Celsius, while it was 2.7 degrees in Dharamsala and 0 degrees Celsius in Bhuntar in Kullu district, he said.
The Met department has predicted rain in the low and mid hills and snow in the high hills of the state Wednesday.
