“Our patrolling team has arrested a youth from near the international border in Ferozepur. We have not recovered anything from him but his interrogation is on and we would look into all aspects of this matter,” BSF Punjab Frontier’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jagir Singh told IANS.

“Besides on a secret tip-off, we dug out fake currency of worth Rs.5 lakh from a jungle area near the border in this district.”

Earlier, a suicide bomber from Pakistan was arrested Thursday after BSF troopers caught him doing a reconnaissance of the area at the Attari international border in Amritsar district of this state.

Security by the BSF, especially during night along the 553-km barbed wire fenced border with Pakistan in Punjab, has been stepped up following certain incidents in the last one week.

The arrest of these Pakistani youths comes less than a week after rockets were fired into India from across the Punjab border for the third time in recent months, the earlier ones being fired in July and September last year.
