Kolkata: Veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu’s body would be carried in a gun carriage during the funeral procession, a defence ministry spokesman said.
“The Indian Army will provide the gun carriage for Basu’s funeral procession. We will provide the special vehicle right from the Peace Haven funeral parlour till it is handed over to the SSKM Hospital authority in the evening.
“The pall-bearers will also be from the Indian Army,” the spokesman told IANS.
“The last journey of Basu will be with state honours,” he said.
