Temperature rises in Himachal

Shimla : The mercury rose by a few notches across Himachal Pradesh Wednesday even though the higher reaches reeled under sub-zero temperatures, with Keylong being the coldest at minus 9.7 degrees Celsius.

Shimla witnessed a minimum temperature of 6.1 degrees Celsius compared to Tuesday’s 4.7 degrees, said a spokesperson for the meteorological office here, adding that cloudy conditions raised the minimum temperatures in the state.

Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti, was the coldest place in the state. It recorded a low of minus 9.7 degrees Celsius as against Tuesday’s minus 10.6 degrees.

Similarly, Kalpa, a picturesque town in Kinnaur district, also recorded a rise in night temperature. It saw minus 4.3 degrees Celsius, a rise of 2.3 degrees from the previous day, said the Met office.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a low of 2 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu 1.3 degrees and Dharamsala in Kangra district saw 5.5 degrees Celsius. These towns had Tuesday registered a minimum temperature at 0.7 degrees, 0.6 degrees and 5.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.
