New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Friday directed all the stakeholders of the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games projects to complete the work related with the mega-event by Aug 31 and make the city absolutely ready to host the Games.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review the preparedness of the city for the Games, Dikshit said Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta will function as nodal officer to resolve the day-to-day obstacles related to the projects.
An official said she also stressed the need of coordinated efforts by all the concerned agencies and pointed out that they finally needed to gear up for early completion of the remaining works as the Games are directly related to prestige of the country.
“In case we lack such coordinated efforts, we are bound to face more difficult days ahead,” she warned, adding that any blame-game and attitude of shifting responsibilities will not be tolerated.
The stakeholders related with the Games are Public Works Department, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and New Delhi Municipal Corporation, among others.
It was decided that no digging or cuttings of roads will be allowed after July 31, the official said, adding that the agencies have been told to coordinate lifting of debris before this deadline.
The chief minister also stated that the deadline must be noted for strict compliance as the city government is committed to make Delhi ready for an international sport event.
