New Delhi : The main accused in the murder of a software engineer three days ago was arrested in the capital Friday and an accomplice is still at large, police said.

Raju alias Jaadu, 21, was arrested from Dabri Mod in connection with the killing of Vivek Bhardwaj, a resident of Janakpuri in west Delhi. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police also recovered the victim’s mobile phone from him.

On July 6, Bhardwaj was robbed and stabbed to death on a road near his home while returning from his sister’s flat after celebrating his birthday. He was working in a software company in Noida and was living in a house in Janakpuri C-I Block.

“His body was found in a pool of blood in a service lane near Pankha Road in Janakpuri. He was declared brought dead at DDU Hospital,” a police officer said.

Raju, who has been charged for several offences earlier, including illegal possession of arms, is the main accused in the case.

“On interrogation, Raju confessed and disclosed the name of Shashi, his associate, who is also involved in the crime,” added the officer. Shashi is still at large.
