Chandigarh : More than 20 members of a family were kept hostage in Haryana’s Panchkula town Friday morning while robbers ransacked their home and decamped with valuables and cash worth lakhs of rupees.
Police said five-six robbers entered a house here in Sector 10 at around 5 a.m. and kept 20 members of the family hostage for nearly one hour. They looted jewellery, valuables and cash worth several lakhs of rupees.
The house in Panchkula, about 10 km from here, belongs to a former deputy director of tourism in Haryana.
“Our investigation is on and we are also taking the help of forensic experts and sniffer dogs to collect vital clues. Family members said that the robbers were armed with sharp-edged weapons and batons,” Om Parkash Bishnoi, investigation officer, told IANS.
