The mob entered the office at Jhandewalan Extension around 6 p.m. and attacked the employees over a sting operation carried out by TV news channel Headlines Today on a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader.

According to police, the mob gathered near the Videocon Tower at 5 p.m. and started raising slogans against the channel. Suddenly, more people joined it. They then barged through the main entrance of the tower breaking down the doors, throwing pots and damaging a coffee shop on the ground floor of the office.

“They were moving towards the lift to reach the fourth floor (where the office of the Headlines Today is situated), but it was sealed. They broke several cameras and vehicles of the group,” said an employee.

Police managed to stop the mob from entering the fourth floor.

“We have detained 30 people who are suspected to be members of RSS. Investigations are on,” a police officer said.

A sting operation carried out by the Headlines Today June 1 broadcast tapes of secret meetings of RSS leader Indresh Kumar discussing the need for carrying out terrorist attacks in the country.

Kumar, who is a member of the Kendriya Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini (central working committee) of the RSS and was sampark pracharak of the organisation till 2006, was shown in the meetings.
