Dr Ausaf Sayeed appointed India’s envoy to Yemen

New Delhi: Serving seasoned Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Dr Ausaf Sayeed has been appointed as India’s new envoy to Yemen. The 1989-batch officer, currently serving as joint secretary for West African affairs in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, is likely to assume office in mid-September.

A one line statement of External Affairs Ministry on July 19 says Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, presently Joint Secretary at the ministry head office in Delhi, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Yemen.

Sayeed has earlier worked in the Indian missions in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Denmark in various capacities. His last assignment abroad was as consul general of India in Jeddah (from August 2004 to July 2008).

Sayeed, a gold medalist from Osmania University, belongs to Hyderabad.
