Chandigarh : The Punjab government Friday announced that it would carry out 75 percent of the administrative reforms by the end of this year.
A committee on administrative reforms set up by the state government earlier this year has suggested the reforms.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said a special cell under an additional secretary had been constituted to monitor the implementation of the reforms.
Chief Secretary S.C.Agrawal said the implementation of e-tendering in six major departments had resulted in average saving of 14 percent. The e-tendering has been adopted in public works department (PWD), irrigation, comptroller of stores, industry , health and local government.
E-tendering will be implemented in the remaining departments within the next two months, Badal said.
Badal asked the chief secretary to ensure implementation of online management of files in all departments by December 31. He said that all circulars, rules and regulations be put on the state government portal so that it could be accessed by all.
The special cell has also been asked to check unauthorized demand of affidavits by various government departments, colleges and universities from the public despite their abolition by the government earlier this year.
