Kozhikkode: Tens of thousands of people came to streets in Kerala yesterday after Juma Prayer to protest against the malicious approach of the state police and media against the Popular Front of India in the wake of the attack on a college teacher there allegedly for his blasphemous act.
Protesters staged marches in some major cities of Kerala against the ongoing police atrocities towards Muslim youth under the pretext of investigation into the assault case against the college teacher at Moovattupuzha. The protest marches and conferences were organized by Popular Front of India in Kozhikkode, Perumbavoor and Kollam.
The widespread raids were conducted by the police in the offices of PFI and houses and institutions of its activists in the name of investigation into the incident. The state police had earlier banned the protest marches of PFI but later allowed after talks between PFI leaders and state DGP.
Protesters raised slogans against the police-media conspiracy to tarnish the image of PFI, a neo-social organization that is gaining strength in the different states of India. They also vowed to continue their protest against state terrorism and sheer discriminations against Muslims.
