New Delhi: Vice President Hamid Ansari will confer the National Amity Award for this year on late actor-turned-politician Sunil Dutt July 30. The award will be received by his daughter Priya Dutt.
“Sunil Dutt’s work in the field of performing arts and his efforts to bring about feelings of brotherhood amongst all Indians is well known,” said V.M. Trehan, of NGO Foundation for Amity and National Solidarity (FANS) that has instituted the award.
“The National Amity Award comprises of a citation and cash award of Rs.1 lakh. The award honours exceptional contribution made an Indian towards peace, national integration and solidarity amongst countrymen,” added Trehan.
