Chandigarh: Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, will Monday interview and select needy and deserving students for free education in management courses at a private institute in Punjab.
Bedi will select the candidates to pursue Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) courses at the Aryans Group of Colleges (AGC), near Rajpura town in Punjab, around 30 km from here.
“There are 11 seats in each of the courses which will be offered to needy, but deserving candidates,” AGC chairman Anshu Kataria told IANS.
“The selected students would get paid for their entire education that includes not only the tuition fees but also expenses on books etc. During the selection process, different parameters like merit, means, parents’ status, background of the candidate and achievements would be taken into consideration,” Kataria said.
He added that the selection of candidates would be done by Magsaysay Award winner Kiran Bedi and Navjyoti, a NGO. Bedi had visited Chandigarh last month and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AGC for this.
Kataria said interested candidates should reach the college campus at Nepra village (Chandigarh-Patiala highway) Monday morning.
