Lucknow HC explores possibility of compromise in Ram Janam Bhoomi–Babri Masjid case

Lucknow: To explore the possibility of a compromise between the two parties in Ram Janam Bhoomi–Babri Masjid title suit, the special full bench of Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court consulted with the cousels of both the parties on Tuesday.

The meeting were held seperately by Justice SU Khan, Justice Sudhir Agarwal and Justice Dharamveer Sharma in their chambers. Counsels for both the parties including Zafaryab Jilani, MA Siddiqui of Sunni Central Board of Waqfs, Ved Prakash representing Bhagwan Shri Ram Virajman, MS Pandey, Harishanker Jain, Ranjana Agnihotri for Nirmohi Akhada and Gopal Singh Visharad met the special full bench.

Later, the special full bench stated that the full bench will start the proceedings for dictating the judgment in Ram Janam Bhoomi-Babri Masjid case from August 2. The full bench maintained that no substantial outcome came out after meeting the counsels. The full bench also observed that if the counsels arrive at any compromise they can can intimate about the developments till the duration of writing the judgment.

Coming out of the court, Zafaryab Jilani appreciated the move of the full bench. He however remained apprehensive about any compromise formula. “We have placed our point but are not much hopeful about any outcome,” he remarked. Another advocate Ranjana Agnihotri reposed her faith in the judiciary. “We are contesting the case for past 20 years and have full faith in the Indian judiciary system,” she said.

Earlier,the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court reserved its verdict in the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid title issue on Monday. The court also stated that the judgment will be delivered any day after September 15.

To recall, the litigation of the title issue was pending in the High Court since 1989. Before it a title suit was pending before the civil court in Faizabad district since 1950. Later the suit was transferred before the District Judge, Faizabad. However, after the demolition of the structure and sensing the sensititivity and importance, as per the direction of the Supreme Court the case was transferred to the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. A special full bench was constituted to hear the Ram Janam Bhoomi-Babri Masjid case.
