New Delhi:The Delhi government Wednesday admitted that work on various Commonwealth Games (CWG) projects was behind schedule and raised doubts whether they would be completed by the Aug 31 deadline.
Delhi Finance Minister A.K. Walia aired the doubts after inspecting the Yamuna sports complex in east Delhi Wednesday morning, where the archery and table tennis events are scheduled to take place.
“There is a lot of work pending and much efforts need to be put… The way the work is going on, I have doubts over timely completion (of some of the projects),” said Walia.
A deadline of Aug 31 has been set by the city government for completing all the Games-related projects. Barely 64 days are left for the showpiece sporting event scheduled for Oct 3-14 in the capital.
