New Delhi : MPs from Left parties would demonstrate against increasing prices at the main gate of Parliament House Thursday.
“We will continue our agitation both inside and outside parliament. We will hold a dharna (sit in) at the main gate of Parliament House tomorrow (Thursday),” Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Gurudas Das Gupta said Wednesday.
Left leaders also criticised Speaker Meira Kumar for not allowing the adjournment motion in Lok Sabha over the issue.
According to Das Gupta, the discussion on adjournment motion was disallowed due to an “invalid assessment” of the situation prevailing in the country.
Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Basudeb Acharia said the government was afraid of facing the adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha.
Meira Kumar Wednesday disallowed an adjournment motion the opposition sought to move for a discussion followed by voting on rising food prices.
The speaker’s decision sparked protests and loud slogans by opposition MPs, forcing Meira Kumar to adjourn the house for the day.
