Samad is said to be a prime suspect in the Pune German Bakery blast of February 13, 2010. His arrest was described as major breakthrough in the bakery blast case in which 17 people were killed. Union Home Minister P C Chidambaram had patted Maharashtra ATS for catching the prime suspect of Pune blast. However, the ATS did not arrest him that case, rather a 2009 arms case. And now he has been sent to judicial custody in the same arms case after being in police custody for a week. ATS has not named Samad in the Pune blast case.
