Ranchi : The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Ajay Maru and Dheeraj Sahu of the COngress Monday filed their nomination papers for the June 17 Rajya Sabha poll in Jharkhand.
Maru filed two sets of nomination papers, signed by both BJP and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) legislators.
“We hope the legislators will ensure victory of a person of Jharkhand,” he said after filing his candidature. The BJP and JD-U have 18 and two seats, respectively, in the 81-member state assembly.
Sahu also filed two sets of nomination papers. He is also being supported by the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P). The Congress and JVVM-P have 14 and 11 legislators, respectively.
A total of three candidates are in the fray for two Rajya Sabha seats from the state. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has fielded K.D. Singh, a Chandigarh-based businessman.
