Ranchi : Explosives were recovered from a railway station in Jharkhand’s Giridih district Monday, officials said. Police suspect it was meant to be supplied to Maoist rebels.
“We recovered explosives from Hazaribagh Road railway station which were kept in a bag. We recovered 75 gelatine sticks, 10 detonators and other materials used for preparing bombs,” Superintendent of Police (Giridih) A. Homkar told reporters.
Police on a tip-off conducted search operations at the railway station and an unclaimed bag was recovered.
Police suspect that the explosives were meant to be supplied to Maoist rebels.
On June 5, police had recovered four improvised explosive devices (IED), each weighing 60 kg, from a village situated on outskirts of Ranchi.
On June 3, Dhanbad police recovered 750 live cartridges of INSAS rifle from a pond.
Giridih is some 160 km from Ranchi.
