Heavy rains likely in Himachal Tuesday

Shimla : The hills of Himachal Pradesh may see heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, a weather official said here Monday after moderate rainfall across the state brought down temperatures.

“There are chances of heavy spells of rain across the hill state Tuesday,” Manmohan Singh, Director of the Meteorological Office, told IANS.

He said most of the prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Kalpa, Kasauli, Chamba, Dharamsala, Palampur and Manali saw good spells of rain Monday.

Shimla, popular among the tourists as Queen of Hills, saw a massive decline in day temperatures. It recorded a high of 22.2 degrees, down from Sunday’s 25.9 degrees Celsius.

Likewise, Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw the maximum temperature at 17.4 degrees against Sunday’s 21 degrees Celsius.

Dharamsala, the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile, saw a high of 33.4 degrees, while it was 24.1 degrees Celsius at Bhuntar in Kullu district. These towns Sunday experienced the day temperature at 36.2 degrees and 33 degrees Celsius, respectively.
