Thiruvananthapuram : The Centre has granted special economic zone (SEZ) status to 25 acres of Cyberpark Kozhikode, an eco-friendly IT Park being developed as a hub-and-spoke model in the Malabar region of North Kerala.
IT-Kerala, a Kerala government initiative, is developing the park in 43 acres of land. The park will provide SEZ and non-SEZ space to clients serving the domestic and international markets.
The master plan for the park will be ready by the end of this month. “We expect to have at least 1.5 lakh square feet of this building ready to be occupied by early 2011. The estimated cost of developing this is Rs.100 crore,” said Cyberpark CEO Binu Pazhoor.
Facilities planned at the Cybperpark include eco-friendly buildings with energy efficient layouts and interiors, fully furnished incubators to support start-up companies and a variety of recreation facilities.
“By 2015 when the Cyberpark is completely operational, it will generate 70,000 jobs for IT professionals and over a lakh jobs indirectly,” said Ajay Kumar, principal secretary, IT.
