Mexico City : Twenty-nine inmates have been killed in a shoot-out between rival groups at a prison in Mexico’s western Sinaloa state, an official said.
The fighting started after an altercation among the inmates Monday. Two police officers were injured.
Eighteen inmates were shot dead, while 11 others were stabbed to death with knives and sharp edged weapons, a spokesman of the Attorney General’s Office told EFE.
The soldiers later restored the order at the prison in Mazatlan city.
