Jammu : The routes to the cave shrine of Amarnath will be cleared by June 24-25 if the weather does not cause any disruption, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra said Monday.
The annual Amarnath pilgrimage will commence July 1 and conclude Aug 25. The cave shrine, at a height of 13,500 feet, is accessible by two routes — Pahalgam and Baltal, which are currently under a thick cover of snow.
Vohra, also the chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, said here that “all efforts are underway to clear the snow. If the weather permits, the tracks should be ready by June 24-25”.
He said every care was being taken to make the tracks secure and safe for the pilgrims. The governor was here to oversee the arrangements being made for the stay of pilgrims.
Vohra said tight security would be in place at the cave and on the tracks. “The yatra would be trouble free. There is no danger,” he said.
