The three, booked by the Economic Offence Wing of Chandigarh Police Wednesday evening, were identified as Rakesh Kumar Goel, wife Neena and son Vikas. They are in the business of steel trading.

According to police, the case was registered after a complaint from Jagdish Kumar, assistant general manager of IDBI here.

The Goels reportedly offered to mortgage their two houses as security for a loan of Rs.5.47 crore from IDBI in December 2009. But they somehow got the loan without submitting the property papers.

It was later found that the family had taken a loan of Rs.8 crore on the basis of the same property documents from another nationalised bank.
