Gandhinagar: The Gujarat High Court Thursday rejected the plea of former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Prahlad Ghosha and another man challenging a lower court’s order to consider them as accused in the Dipda Darwaza case in the 2002 post-Godhra riots.

Yusuf Khan Murad Khan and his 11 family members were attacked and killed by a mob at Dipda Darwaza area of Visnagar in Mehsana district. More than 24 people were injured in the attack.

Earlier, the Mehsana sessions court, while hearing a petition of Mohammed Iqbal Baloch, had ordered the adding of Ghosha and Visnagar municipality president Dahyabhai Patel as accused in the case.

Ghosha and Patel challenged the Sessions court’s order in the high court.

Justice Anant Dave, while upholding the sessions court’s order, said that the sessions judge did not commit any error and had rightly ordered to consider them as accused. The court however allowed the two four weeks time to file an appeal in the apex court.
