The Dalai Lama is to deliver a Buddhist sermon at Zenkoji Temple in Nagano, central Japan, Saturday and give a public lecture Sunday. He was invited by the temple’s monks.

He also plans to travel to nearby Kanazawa and Yokohama for lectures on his first trip to the country for around six months, his 14th overall. He is to leave Japan on the 28th.

The Nobel Peace Prize laureate has resided in India since he fled China in 1959. Previous visits to Japan have angered China, who consider the Dalai Lama’s calls for Tibetan autonomy to be unacceptable separatism.
