Islamabad : Pakistan will release 17 Indian prisoners Wednesday, a day before before the foreign secretary-level talks between the two countries.
“The prisoners will be released through the Wagah Border on June 23,” Xinhua reported, quoting a foreign ministry statement Tuesday.
Pakistani Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir is to hold talks June 24 with his Indian counterpart Nirupama Rao. They will finalise the agenda for the July 15 meeting here between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna.
Pakistan and India hold hundreds of each other’s prisoners. These are mostly fishermen who have inadvertantly staryed into each other’s waters.
