Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said Saturday his government will not tolerate human rights violations but will take severe action against all those disturbing the peace.
Chairing a meeting of senior ministers, senior bureaucrats and police officers here, Abdullah said: “The perpetrators, instigators and disruptive elements will be dealt with severely”.
He asked the administration to take proactive preventive measures and also be careful that no innocent civilian causalities occurred.
Abdullah laid stress on the need to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid down to deal with any situation.
“The death of any innocent civilian is a cause of deep concern for the government. However, the government cannot afford to be complacent against those who want to be a law unto themselves and disturb the peace and tranquility in the state.”
He said his government is committed to maintaining peace and order and shall take strong measures against those elements, who for their own political considerations and vested interests, want to exploit and misguide the youth of the state.
The chief minister said all forces deployed in the state have to exercise utmost restraint while dealing with the civilians and those found guilty of human rights violations will be dealt with strictly as per law.
