Jammu: Gujjar activist of Jammu and Kashmir and writer of Gojri language, Dr Javaid Rahi has been chosen for the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Medal for the year 2010 by Ahmedabad based All India Society of Kashatriya Gujjars. He is first among Muslim Gujjars of J& K to get this prize for his outstanding contributions towards development of Gojri language and Gujjar identity in South Asia.
As per a communication received from Sardar Hari Gayan Singh Gujjar, All India President of Gujjar society , from this year onward the organisation will give one prize in shape of a medal in Gojri language also. Previously this medal was given to community members in recognition of their social service rendered for Gujjar tribe.
