Chandigarh : Police in Chandigarh Sunday claimed to have busted a gang of autorickshaw thieves with the arrest of three people and recovery of seven stolen three-wheelers.
The special crime investigation cell of Chandigarh police nabbed the accused after laying a trap following a tip-off Saturday.
“So far we have recovered seven three-wheelers that were stolen from different parts of this city. They used to sell the vehicles at throwaway prices to auto-dealers in Haryana,” said Satbir Singh, investigating officer of the case.
“We have started our investigation and trying to verify their links in Punjab and Haryana. We hope to make more recoveries and arrest more people after the interrogation.”
