Ghaziabad: Home Minister P. Chidambaram Wednesday asked the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to give a detailed report on the aid provided to families of 10 personnel killed in a firefight with Maoists while guarding the NALCO mines in Orissa last year.

Chidambaram, who was the chief guest at the paramilitary’s 41st raising day function, met the families of the victims while awarding gallantry medals. One of the family members fainted at the function. Many of the victims’ kin are yet to get a job in the force as promised.

“I have now asked (the CISF for) the list of the 10 martyrs, the 10 next of kin and what job is being given to the families. I think one of them…there is some problem about a job which would be sorted out by Saturday,” Chidambaram said.

A platoon of 26 CISF men fought over 400 Maoists for 10 hours after being attacked at the site of the state-owned National Aluminium Co Ltd (NALCO) in April last year. The force lost 10 of its men and gunned down some Maoists.
