The government is aware of certain terror groups having plans to target Indian missions abroad, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna told parliament in a written reply to a question.

The government has taken up the matter with the related countries, sensitising them of the need for taking effective security measures to counter such plans.

Krishna added that senior security experts from India have made an on-the-spot assessment of the measures required to strengthen security of India’s missions abroad. These measures have been implemented by the government, he added.

“Such counter measures, naturally, may vary on case to case basis,” he added.
