Panchkula (Haryana) : The second bodyguard of a former bureaucrat couple’s son, Ranjit Bajaj, has been arrested for attacking the son of a Punjab and Haryana High Court judge, officials said here Sunday. Bajaj is also in jail after evading arrest for a month.
Mahinder Singh was taken into custody late Saturday from his house in Seenk village of Panipat district.
“We have arrested Mahinder from his house and now we are bringing him to Panchkula,” investigating officer Jangsher Singh told IANS.
Bajaj was accompanied by his two bodyguards, Malkhan Singh and Mahinder, when he allegedly attacked Gurmohan Singh Bedi, the judge’s son. Bajaj has been charged with attempt to murder.
Bajaj, who dodged the police for over a month, was arrested March 3 and is in jail in Ambala. His bodyguard, Malkhan Singh, was arrested March 8 from his home in a Chandigarh suburb, around 10 km from here.
Gurmohan, son of judge M.M.S. Bedi, had alleged that Bajaj and his guards hit him with weapons at the North Park resort in Panchkula over a parking argument Jan 29.
Police have also recovered the pistol that Bajaj used to threaten Gurmohan.
Ranjit Bajaj, son of retired bureaucrats B.R. Bajaj and Rupan Deol Bajaj, has applied for anticipatory bail and the court is to take up his plea for hearing Monday.
