New Delhi : The country’s largest power generator, the state-run NTPC Thursday said it had paid the highest interim dividend so far at Rs.2,090.21 crore to the government for the current fiscal.
The dividend payout has been kept at Rs.3 per equity share, which was 30 percent of the paid-up equity share capital of the company, and amounted to Rs.2,473.64 crore for 2009-10.
“Out of this, an amount of Rs.2,090.21 crore was paid to Government of India holding 84.5 percent of NTPC’s paid up equity,” said a statement from the company.
This is the 17th consecutive year that NTPC has declared dividend, the statement added.
NTPC is targetting to generate about 226,000 million units of electricity in the next fiscal.
