Noida : Three persons were arrested Thursday for killing a 20-year-old Amity University student after abducting him from this satellite town March 20 and disposing of his body in Aligarh, police said.
Rohit Singh, son of a government contractor, was in second year doing a B.Tech course. He belonged to Aligarh.
Presenting the accused in front of the media here, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashok Kumar said the trio kidnapped Rohit from Sector 46, Noida March 20. The three took him in a car to Panipat from where they made a ransom call of Rs.1 crore to his parents in Aligarh.
The accused have been identified as Vivek Patel and Saurav Punjabi (both from Aligarh), and Vishal Sachdeva (a resident of Panipat). Vivek is the grandson of former legislator from Aligarh Indrapal Singh.
“After failing to receive any positive response, the trio killed Rohit in Panipat and disposed his body in a canal in Aligarh,” Kumar said.
Police nabbed the trio through mobile surveillance and recovered a car and a pistol from them.
Meanwhile, the Aligarh police located the body of Rohit floating in the canal.
“The body of Rohit, who was abducted from Noida for a ransom of Rs.1 crore, has been found,” SSP Vijay Prakash told IANS from Aligarh.
A case has been registered in Sector 39 police station, Noida.
