Raipur: Chhattisgarh has only eight wild buffaloes – its state animal – left, a forest department official said Saturday.
“The state has only eight wild buffaloes. They are at the Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary in Raipur district. The biggest problem is we have just one female buffalo,” the official told IANS.
The officer said the Wildlife Trust of India was helping the state to implement a wild buffalo recovery project to save the endangered species.
