Chatterjee intimated the club about his decision to quit Tuesday, taking responsibility for the club’s recent below par show in the I-League. The former midfielder put in his papers after Mohun Bagan were held 2-2 by Railway F.C. in the Kolkata premier division football league.

Despite persistent requests from the club, Chatterjee stuck to his decision. His stint lasted less than two months.

Bhattacharjee will take charge Wednesday, Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra told a media meet here.

Dipesh Bhattacharjee will be the new physical trainer, while Hemanta Dora retained his place as the goalkeeping coach.

Three time champions Mohun Bagan are now lying fifth in the I-League. They have been winless in their previous four outings. The city giants went down to Sporting Clube, Goa, 1-2 and suffered a 1-4 drubbing against Shillong Lajong FC in the last two games.
