New Delhi: Delhiites need not panic but they should prepare themselves as robustly as possible, Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna advised Sunday, a day after the heightened terror alert in the capital.

The US, Australia, Britain and Canada Saturday issued security advisories to their citizens, warning of terror attacks in crowded places of Delhi.

“There is nothing to be concerned about it (terror threat), do your best to prepare yourself as robustly as you can,” Khanna told NDTV.

He said he was aware that before the 2010 Commonwealth Games in October, some hostile elements will try to create security scare among the participating countries.

He added that people must go out and not be concerned about anything.

“No one is saying that people should stay inside their homes – it would be just acting on fear psychosis,” he maintained.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, while talking to the same channel, hinted that the motive behind causing the terror alert in the city was to affect the Commonwealth Games.

“These are some issues which should be understood by the common man. The police and the home ministry, I believe, are doing their best,” Dikshit said.
