New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader M. Venkaiah Naidu Monday said the government was free to take action against anyone involved in terrorist activities but incidents of terrorism should not be linked with religion.

Talking to reporters here, he said that issues of majority or minority should not be raised in the context of terrorism.

Referring to reports about police investigations into the Ajmer dargah blasts, he said the government was free to take action against the guilty without any consideration of religion.

Naidu also broached the issue of terror while taking part in the debate on the working of home ministry in the Rajya Sabha Monday.

He said that terror has nothing to do with religion and “terrorist is a terrorist” irrespective of the religion to which he belongs. “Terrorists should be caught and punished,” Naidu said.

“Whether it is blasts in Malegaon or Hyderabad, all this is dangerous for the country,” he said.

Police investigations have suggested a link among the blasts at Ajmer, Hyderabad and Malegaon with a self-styled right-wing group believed to be behind them.
