Chandigarh : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked leaders and workers to resolve differences in the party within the ranks and refrain from “going to the media”.
“Going to the media first instead of discussing any matter at the party forum level is wrong. I will discuss this with party leaders. They must resolve differences within the party. I have told party workers and leaders not to go to the media without discussing within the party,” BJP president Nitin Gadkari told reporters here.
“Indiscipline of this kind will not be tolerated (in the BJP). This must be stopped. Party leaders and workers should not go to the media,” he added.
The party’s Punjab unit has seen open infighting among top leaders through the media.
In the latest case, a chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) and legislator Jagdish Sahni has levelled serious corruption charges against Punjab’s Health Minister and BJP colleague Laxmi Kanta Chawla.
The BJP last week set up a two-member probe committee, comprising Amritsar Lok Sabha MP Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab BJP president Ashwini Sharma, to look into the spat between Sahni and the minister.
