Patient dies after falling from hospital’s fifth floor

Chandigarh : A 45-year-old man, who was admitted to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here, died after falling Sunday from the fifth floor of the hospital building, police said.

Krishan Lal had come from Nainital in Uttarakhand and was admitted to the PGIMER for the last one week.

“From preliminary investigation, it seems that he slipped and fell down from the fifth floor of the Nehru block. However, our investigation is on and we are looking into various aspects of the case. It could be an accident or a suicide, the situation will become clear once our investigation is over,” a police officer said.

Lal, who had come here several times earlier also for treatment, was accompanied by his wife.

One of Lal’s relatives told police that the deceased was suffering from depression for the last many days because of his illness.
