Lucknow: The Wazirganj police in Lucknow on Tuesday arrested another youth who was wanted in a case of murderous assault on Naib Imam, Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli, outside the Eidgah on Monday evening.
The youth arrested was identified as Abuzar Kidwai of Sadatganj. The police arrested Kidwai when he was about to surrender in court. Kidwai was arrested from near Balrampur hospital around 12.50 pm on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, one Raes Ahmad of Nai Basti Mehboobganj under Sadatganj police station has given a written complaint to Bazarkhala police on behalf of Naib Imam.
In the complaint letter, Naib has mentioned that the miscreants, who were four in numbers, opened fire at him on after he came out of the Eidgah.
“By God’s grace, I escaped injury as the miscreant, who was wielding the pistol, misfired,” said the Naib Imam.
Also, one miscreant identified as Neta Ahmad Hasan of Idara wali masjid and an unidentified man were also accused of attacking the Naib Imam, in the complaint.
The police has registered a case under section 307/504/506 of IPC. Official spokesman of DIG/SSP Lucknow said the police are raiding hide-out of the absconding miscreants.
Contrary to police claim, some locals of the area told newsmen that the duo, who were later identified as Aftab and Kidwai were on a scooter and happened to pass the Eidgah road. Suddenly two cops were seen chasing the duo on the scooter. Later Aftab of Wazirganj, was arrested by the cops.
Also, sources in police department said that Monday’s incident was a result of acrimony between Naib and Aftab on some issue. However, the same could not be verified by either the police or by the complainant.
It may be mentioned that Naib Imam was attacked by armed miscreants, when he came out of the Aishbagh Eidgah on Monday evening. Later Naib Imam’s gunners overpowered one of the miscreants and later handed him over to the police.

Various political and social organisations have condemned Monday’s attack on eminent Muslim cleric Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli. Terming the attack as unfortunate they demanded an immediate probe into the matter.
Condemning the attack with heavy words president Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Ritu Bahugna Joshi said that the attack exposed the deteriorating law and orde situation in the state and the failure of state government to tackle it. She added that since Maulana Khalid was respected by every community so the attack was performed as per a planned strategy. General secretary UPCC, Maroof Khan said that the government has failed completely in handling the law and order situation in the state and attacks like the one on Maulana Khalid were testified the fact.
Itehad-e-Millat Committee has also condemned the attack on Maulana Khalid terming it as a cowardly act The committee in its meeting held under the presidentship of eminent Shia Cleric Maulana Kalabe Jawad demanded a beef up in the security of Maulana Khalid.
Aashiyana Pariwar, an NGO, has also expressed its grief on the ruthless attack on Maulana Khalid demanded that the administration solves the attack and brings the culprits to the book. The organisation has hailed the Maulana who has a following cutting across the religious lines due to his broad outlook and social services.
