Hajj 2010: 5861 Hajj seats allotted to J&K

Srinagar: According to Executive Officer, J&K State Hajj Committee (SHC), Srinagar, as many as 5861 Hajj seats have been allotted to J&K State by Hajj Committee of India Mumbai for Hajj 2010.

As per Executive Officer, the district Anantnag has been allotted 570 seats, Bandipora 230 seats, Baramulla 617 seats, Budgam 428 seats, Ganderbal 149 seats, Kulgam 289 seats, Kupwara 471 seats, Pulwama 317 seats, Shopian 156 seats, Srinagar 731 seats, Kargil 72 seats, Leh 12 seats, Doda 84 seats, Jammu 53 seats, Kathua 33 seats, Kishtwar 91 seats, Poonch 254 seats, Rajouri 217 seats, Ramban 122 seats, Reasi 60 seats, Samba 15 seats and Udhampur 36 seats.

According to Executive Officer, the State Hajj Committee has already received 854 Hajj seats for Hajj 2010 under reserved category.

As per the decision taken by Hajj Committee of India, Mumbai, all those Hajj pilgrims who were applying for Hajj Pilgrimage for the last three years continuously have been confirmed.

As such, out of 854 such applications, the State Hajj Committee has received 272 applications from district Srinagar, 228 from Pulwama, 168 from Shopian, 46 from Anantnag, 54 from Baramulla, 25 from Budgam, 39 from Ganderbal, 4 from Leh and 18 from Kulgam.

Thus there remain only 5007 Hajj seats for draw of lots.
