The fresh ban comes a day after Pakistan authorities blocked video sharing site YouTube and social networking site Facebook, where a group announced an online competition for cartoons of Prophet Mohammed to be held Thursday.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) officials told Geo News that filters are being installed on the directives of federal government to implement the verdict of the Lahore High Court.

The monitoring cells are continuously functioning while the process of blocking controversial web links and sites will be carried on, the officials said.
