Islamabad : Pakistan’s Election Commission Tuesday unveiled a five-year plan for restructuring the organisation as well for registration of voters and settlement of election disputes among others issues.
Briefing reporters here, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan said it had focused on election reforms in drawing up the strategic plan.
“ECP today is presenting a comprehensive five-year strategic plan 2010-14 to implement these reforms. This has been evolved in consultation with all stakeholders including political parties, members of parliament, civil society and the people,” Online news agency quoted Khan as saying.
There were 15 targets set in the strategic plan to strengthen the country’s electoral process by enhancing the ECP’s potential, printing of credible electoral rolls and participation of all voters in the electoral process through better awareness, he added.
