Man harassed by cop, shoots self in Gurgaon

Gurgaon : A 46-year-old man, allegedly harassed by a police official, Wednesday committed suicide by shooting himself at his office in old Gurgaon, police said Wednesday.

Dinesh Yadav, in his suicide note, alleged that the DLF Phase-I police station chief was harassing him and trying to extort money from him.

“We are probing the role of the SHO (station house officer). On the basis of a complaint by the victim’s family, a case has been registered,” a police officer said.

Yadav was found dead at his office on the fifth floor of Ganpati Heights apartments in Old Gurgaon.

“He shot himself dead with his .32 bore licensed pistol. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” the officer added.

His body has been sent for post-mortem examination, the officer said.
