Patna: Jamaat-e-Islami Bihar yesterday launched a weeklong campaign called “Quran Padho, Quran Samjho” to bring awareness among the Muslim masses regarding reading Quran with understanding and implementing its teachings in their life and the society. The inaugural program was held here at Anjuman Islamia Hall.

Addressing the gathering that comprised both men and women, youth and old, Dr Hasan Raza, Member, Central Advisory Council, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said the campaign was needed because Muslims are reading Quran just superficially, they are neither going in depth of Quran, nor implementing its teachings on themselves and the society. “Quran is not just a book of constitution, rather it is a mirror in which an individual and society can see themselves and make up accordingly,” said Dr Raza, an eminent speaker and distinguished personality of Ranchi, Jharkhand.

He further said that one can’t understand Quran by just reading explanations and tafseer. “One should read it directly as it is a live book,” he added.

He also warned the members of Jamaat Islami that they must not use this campaign just to increase their weekly programs of Quran study, nor must they canvass for reading only Tafhimul Quran – the tafseer written by Maulana Syed Abul Aala Maudoodi, the founder of Jamaat Islami.
